Nicholas taught at Trinity College of Music for ten years up to 2002.
Nicholas was the first session musician to have an article dedicated to him in The Clarinet, the journal of the International Clarinet Association (June 2001). This became the first in a series entitled ‘I Wonder Who The Clarinet Player Was’, devoted to players that are often heard on film soundtracks.
